Here at Lays, we’re committed to giving back to our community, and we believe true success goes hand in hand with supporting those around us. Through active volunteering efforts and dedicated funding initiatives, we actively engage with and uplift our community here in New Zealand.

Selwyn Sports Trust

Lay’s brand is committed to promoting well-being and uplifting local communities, particularly through sport. Partnering as a sponsor of the Selwyn Sports Trust is an ideal way to showcase this, as their commitment to empowering individuals of all ages and backgrounds to lead active, healthy lifestyles, aligns with our own community-based values.


We have a strong commitment to community rugby and provide support and sponsorship to local rugby clubs including Leeston, Southbridge, and Dunsandel Irwell. Mike Lay is also a board member on both the Canterbury Rugby Union and the Crusaders Board, including the Matatu Rugby Franchise.

Staff Involvement in the community

We encourage our staff to be involved in the community through participating, coaching, committee involvement or just helping out for the day. Through this we have connections with Selwyn Netball, Ellesmere Netball, Ellesmere Road Runners, Ellesmere Heritage Park to name a few. In 2023 we were presented by the Leeston Volunteer Fire Brigade in recognition of our support over a number of years.
