The director of the firm, Michael has over 20 years experience in the accounting industry, with 16 of those years in practice in Leeston. Born and bred on a farm in the Ellesmere area, Michael has a strong knowledge of the agricultural industry and is also a graduate of Lincoln University and a member of the New Zealand Primary Institute of Management.
Justine Caunce
Office Administrator
Justine has a strong background in office administration, and is responsible for processing accounts, GST returns and the day to day office management. She is your first point of contact.
Steven Free
Accountant
Steven joined the team part-time in 2006 to assist with the increased work. Steven prepares annual accounts and oversees the GST and Payroll compliance within the office. Steven has completed a degree at Canterbury University and his professional exams and is now a fully qualified Chartered Accountant. Steven also lives locally and has a sound knowledge of the district.
Scott Barclay
Accountant
Scott joined Lay asscoiates in 2007 and is is also involved in the preparation of financial accounts. He has a background in teaching and is now completed his final papers at university to allow him to gain entry to the institute of chartered accountants. Scott is looking to complete his CA qualification this year. Scott lives on a small farm in the local area with his partner and two children
Pauline Lay
Office Manager
Pauline handles the monthly accounts, bill payment and overall office management. She runs her own independent onsite office administration business, with a loyal clientele.
Mary-Anne Michael
Accounts Clerk
Mary-Anne Joined the firm in late 2009 and is responsible for GST returns and wages. Mary-Anne is also from the local district and owns a farm near Dunsandel with her husband Gary. Her time is also kept busy runniing after three boys and Gary of course.
